Dear youtube, Even though this video might not be one of the most relaxing ones I still hope that you enjoy it. So first things first: I will be moving to Canada at the end of August 2012. The reason for this is the fact that I finally managed to get a job as a kindergarten/elementary school teacher at St. John's School in Vancouver, BC! *cheer* I think I had to share this piece of information with you because it will change my life quite much. Besides there might be a chance to receive some precious tips/recommendations from you if you should happen to live in Canada or perhaps have travelled there already. So as usual - thanks for watching, I'm looking forward to reading your comments/messages/whatever! :) All the best - Ken P.S. Did you like the music? It was provided by a yout...
Who are good teachers? Does your child have a good teacher? Sometimes students think that they have good teachers when their teachers don't assign homework or give tests that are easy. It's important to know that easy doesn't equal good and often students with easy teachers end up not learning in class. This raises concern for parents who worry about their children not making progress and reaching their learning potential. Tip for parents: get to know your children's teachers and make sure that they set the bar high and hold students to high standards. An inspiring rally where about one hundred teachers and their supporters gather to protest the deteriorating conditions in the BC public school system caused by chronic underfunding of the system by the BC Liberal government over the past 13 years. Speakers include Jim Sinclair, Patti Bacchus, Glen Hansman, and Adrian Dix. Any money raised from video views will go to the BCTF/VTF strike fund.

"Hello, B.C. Ambulance here." Dispatcher Colin Terry remembers the warm sunny day last year when he took the call. "Even before I knew what was going on, I knew in her voice this was going to be something bad." Elementary school teacher Wendy Swain had taken her students out for a recess break. The children were playing, when one suddenly fell to the ground. "I hustled over and what I saw was my student looking very dead," said Swain.

https://www.expedia.com/Vancouver.d178315.Destination-Travel-Guides Vancouver’s breezes carry the scents of nature and aromas of all the urban delights you’d expect from a city regularly voted, “the Worlds most livable”. The city takes its name from the British navigator who landed here in 1792. The original settlement was called “Gastown”, in honor of Gassy Jack, who built the city’s first tavern. Gassy Jack and his makeshift pub may be long gone, but in the historic neighborhood of Gastown, his spirit lingers on. Vancouver’s early history continues at Waterfront Station, the western terminus of the Canadian Pacific Railway. The railway’s construction brought Chinese workers by the thousands, whose descendants have enriched Vancouver ever since. Experience this interweaving of cultu...

Travel video about destination Vancouver in Canada. Vancouver is the third largest city in Canada and one of the most beautiful on the American continent, a dynamic metropolis set in a beautiful location with a temperate climate throughout the year. Close to the harbor area, the city's skyscrapers have proliferated in recent years. The capital of the southwestern province of British Columbia has developed into an economic centre of renown. The city's oldest buildings were built less than 100 years ago because the former wooden houses of old Vancouver were destroyed by fire. Several buildings reflect the origin of their inhabitants and are similar to those in the United States and Europe. Inspired by the Colosseum in Rome, an elegant structure of pink stone and glass, Canada Place, is lo...

Ever since I came back from my semester abroad in December 2014, I've gained a new perspective on travel and why it's a must, especially when you're young and you're not exactly sure who you are yet. For me, traveling isn't just about visiting the major tourist attractions. It's about immersing yourself in the culture, forcing yourself out of your comfort zone, meeting people who come from completely different backgrounds, and exploring the smaller cities where you can really get a feel for how the natives live. I've been wanting to go abroad by myself for quite some time now. Not that I would mind company, but sometimes being a little impulsive makes you do things you usually wouldn't. Eventually, I decided it was now or never because there would never be a "right time." I can now say t...

In her presentation, Jane discussed and demonstrated nonverbal and verbal microskills and foundational skills essential for Sociocultural Competency. She also made suggestions for how to approach classroom 'group work' as a substitute for a workplace activity.
